Troubleshooting
Howden’s troubleshooting expertise extends well beyond the equipment supplied. Problems more often arise in the relationship of the air & gas handling equipment to the rest of the plant than with the equipment itself. Howden has acquired considerable know-how that reaches into other parts of the total plant.
Many technical problems are complex, and on occasions require the application of a multi-disciplined approach. We are experienced in such situations and are well positioned to draw on the expertise of others, both internally and from outside the company. We operate effectively in handling such complex problems by providing a link to others with specialist knowledge.
Our own Howden Technology organization, based in Renfrew, Scotland, provides a consultancy service together with core research facilities that are available to all Howden companies throughout the world. They are well placed to handle technical problems in the following specialist areas:
- stress analysis using Finite Elements.
- advanced acoustic analysis including on-site surveys.
- computer based acoustic analysis work using "Sysnoise".
- complex structural dynamic analysis of static and rotating components.
- advanced metal fatigue and fracture mechanics analysis.
- high temperature metal creep assessment.
- rotor dynamics assessment of multiple shaft systems.
- site strain gauging and testing up to temperatures of 300ÂșC.
- design and manufacture of specialized electronic equipment.
- site vibration problem assessment involving dynamic surveys.
- fan performance testing at site in accordance with international standards.
