E-Series Cooling Fans
Howden E-Series cooling fans, the most widely supplied by Howden, are available in three different blade profiles, ENF, ELF & ELFA, for application in cooling towers, air-cooled heat exchangers or air-cooled steam condensers. The E-series offers the choice of a highly efficient impeller and/or a low noise solution.
The E-Series fan blades have an integral shaft, are positioned on the fan hub-plate by aluminum blade supports and are fastened by U-bolts for simple field assembly and blade pitch adjustment.
Design advantages
- one-piece fan blade with integral reinforced shaft. This eliminates the concentration of stresses at mechanical joints, which is a major cause of fan failures in operation, and is less sensitive to load variations such as those caused by high winds.
- less risk of resonance compared to aluminum blades or metal blade parts due to the superior dampening properties of Howden glass fiber reinforced polyester. Fan design life is prolonged by up to 40 years.
- high efficiency resulting in low power consumption, because of optimal blade shapes (determined in the world’s most extensive cooling fan test facility).
- low sound, because of the dampening effect of polyester and the geometry of the blade.

Standard features

- fan diameters range from 1219mm to 14,630mm (4 to 48 ft)
- standard operating temperature range from -20 to +65oC (-4 to +149oF).
- fiberglass reinforced polyester blades with integral blade shaft, adjustable at rest.
- mild steel, polyurethane coated hub plate with aluminum blade clamping pieces and stainless steel U-bolts, nuts and washers.
Optional features
- polyurethane leading edge protection for wet cooling tower applications.
- cast iron, polyurethane coated, coupling flange to suit the mating drive shaft of the bearing set, gearbox or motor, including galvanized bolting.
