Case Study: Replacing the stationary matrix design of air preheaters at Shajiao Power Station, with Howden VN preheaters resulted an increase in unit output of 20MW and a payback period of less than 2 years.

Howden Variax

Howden Variax provides custom engineered axial flow fans to North America from its Raleigh, North Carolina office.

Our main product is the Variax® variable pitch axial flow fan for power generation applications. Manufacturing is carried out globally in Howden’s specialized facilities. All of our products are custom engineered to international standards and to customer requirements.

Working with our parent company, Howden Denmark, our team of experienced professional mechanical, structural and aerodynamic engineers is fully familiar with modern design techniques including finite element analysis and computer aided design. Howden Denmark is certified to ISO 9001 and has a dedicated R&D department continually developing axial fan products both mechanically and aerodynamically.

A fully equipped aerodynamic laboratory, built according to AMCA 210, is available in Denmark for scale-model aerodynamic testing of fans. Howden Denmark also has equipment for stress, acoustic and vibration measurements. On-site performance testing of equipment is conducted to internationally recognized standards using portable equipment.
