Howden Netherlands History
1875 Stork Bros commences the supply of boilers in Hengelo, The Netherlands.
1915 The company starts to manufacture fans for its boilers under license from a number of
suppliers.
1933 Stork becomes a licensee of James Howden and Company for high efficiency centrifugal
fans.
1939 The company develops its own range of high efficiency axial and centrifugal fans. Joint
development work with Howden raises the efficiency of the aerofoil bladed centrifugal fan to
90%.
1955 Stork commences the manufacture of aluminum cooling fans.
1960 The company adopts Fiberglass Reinforced Polyester (FRP
) for its cooling fans; a lighter
construction material, less sensitive to resonance problems caused by frequency
interference.
1989 Howden takes a majority interest in the fan division of Stork Bros.
1992 The company is acquired 100% by Howden and the company name changed to
Ventilatoren Sirocco Howden (VSH).
1992 An exceptional low-noise cooling fan is introduced, the SX
-series.
1997 The company becomes the Howden centre of excellence in cooling fans and tunnel
ventilation systems.
2001 Tunnel ventilation fan activities are transferred to Howden Ventilatoren GmbH in Germany.
2006 The company is renamed “Howden Netherlands”.
