Howden Buffalo is headquartered in Camden, South Carolina with operations located in Williamsville, NY; New Philadelphia, OH; Dearborn, MI; and Mexico City, Mexico.
Our history consists of many companies, including Buffalo Forge, Westinghouse Sturtevant, Joy, Green, and many others. Each of these companies has strong histories of its own:

1902 Buffalo Forge provides a fan-coil dehumidifying system for the Sackett Wilhelm Lithographic Company in Buffalo, New York.

1904 Buffalo Forge provides the worlds first spray type air conditioning device
|
|
1906 BF Sturtevant supplies the first industrial process air-conditioning system to the Walter Baker Company, a chocolate factory in Milton, MA.

1910 BF Sturtevant patents a system for railway car air conditioning.
|
|
1910 Buffalo Forge designs The Cyclone Dust Collector to remove particulate matter from air streams.
|
|
1910 BF Sturtevant introduces the first backward inclined bladed centrifugal fan.
|
|
1914 Buffalo Forge introduces the 1st edition of Fan Engineering – the industry standard reference work on air and gas movement.

|
1941 Buffalo Forge is traded on the NY Stock Exchange.
|
1945 Westinghouse purchases BF Sturtevant.

1945 Joy Manufacturing Company purchases LADEL Mfg., a fan maker located in New Philadelphia, OH .

1955 Joy Manufacturing introduces its first Axivane® Controllable Pitch Axial Fan.

1987 Joy Manufacturing and Green Fan are combined and re-named Joy/Green Fan. Green is a manufacturer of large centrifugal fans for the power and heavy industrial markets.

1988 Howden acquires Davidson & Company, which includes Berry, Sturtevant, American Blower and Air Tech.

1993 Howden acquires Buffalo Forge.
|
1997 Howden acquires Joy/Green Fans, now conducting business as New Philadelphia Fan Company.

1999 Howden Fan Company is re-named Howden Buffalo Inc.
